Lumpy Oatmeal to a Lumpy Bump

Eating crackers with Daddy

It has kind of been a crazy week. Carson found out that he loves oatmeal which is great. But there is one problem … he won’t let me feed him … so he feeds himself the oatmeal which has a very messy outcome. It took awhile to get all the oatmeal out of the bathtub. I have now found oatmeal bites that Carson can feed himself and is not as messy.

Todd and I call it “poltergeist.” It’s when Carson moves all the chairs in the kitchen. You leave the kitchen and they are all under the table just looking perfect. Before you can blink all the chairs have been moved all over the kitchen a few may even end up in the entry way. It reminded us of the kitchen chair scene from the movie “Poltergeist.”

Todd and Carson were out in the yard watering all our plants … it seems like we are always watering. With the 105 days we have to keep up on it so all our landscaping doesn’t die. Well anyways they were playing around with the water hose and Carson fell over. He got his first real scrap and bump on his forehead. Being the big boy he is he cried only for a little while and got back to playing.

Friday, Carson and I joined some of the members of our playgroup at a local petting zoo. We went in the morning so we could beat the heat. Carson really enjoyed it. The animals were very sweet. I wish I could have taken some pictures but the battery was dead in our camera. I guess we will have to do it again. Carson really enjoyed seeing all his friends. He recognizes them now. It’s really sweet.

There is one sad note from this weekend. On Friday night, Lindsi, Rey, Carson, Todd, and I plus Gigi and Oscar (Matt and Hang’s dogs) all loaded up into one SUV and headed to Oklahoma City. We were all there for Nga’s funeral. Nga was our neighbor Hang’s little sister. She was a wonderful and beautiful person and we were all very blessed to have known her. We will miss her very much.

My Busy Boy!

Lauren and Carson

Someone needs some more leg room.

Carson can't wait till he is one and his car seat can be turned around.

Our boys after dinner out with Matt & Hang, and Rey & Lindsi.

I LOVE STUFFED PEPPERS!

Since we have been back from The Early Family Vacation Carson has been a busy boy. When we got home he had to play with all of his toys of course. Tuesday morning we watched Carson’s friend Lauren while her mommy had a long doctor’s appointment. Lauren was such a big girl and very easy to watch. Carson loved having someone to play with. Then the next morning he woke up with a fever and was not feeling so well. He wanted to play so bad but he just did not feel well enough to play. Within a few days he was feeling better and back to being a busy boy. His new thing is pushing the chairs around the kitchen. I have added a video clip … sorry it’s sideways. Also we found out that Carson loves stuffed peppers. They were a little messy and so was he but, it was just too cute to watch.

Dancing in her pink shoes ... We will miss you Nga!

Our good friend Nga (Hang's sister) has gone to be with God. As Hang says "She's dancing in Heaven." We will miss her. :(

Day Four

Life at the beach is a perfect life.

Day Three

Day Three - Started off a lot like day two but that afternoon we got a wonderful surprise. Sara, Ryan, and Bella showed up at the house. We were all so excited and happy they were able to join us. It was just not the same without them there. Later that day Todd’s parents made it into town. So we were a big happy group of 23 people. I love huge families!

Sorry for the delay in the blog. When we got home from vacation the last thing I wanted to do was start on the family blog. So I started editing all 725 pictures from the trip to Summer’s Edge, Florida. It took awhile to get through all of them and then a little more time to decide which ones would make it onto the blog. So here is what I came up with.

Day One - We made our way to Santa Rosa Beach area by the way of plane. The rest of our crew came by the way of a caravan of black SUVs. I have a feeling that they looked like the mafia on vacation. They started their trip on Friday, the 4th of July with a Cardinal - Cub baseball game in St. Louis. The next morning they started the road trip to FL. Late Sunday morning we all met in Seaside for lunch before we checked into our houses in Summer’s Edge (located a few miles down highway 30-A). After seeing how busy Seaside was I was very excited to stay at Summer’s Edge. It was a lot like Seaside use to be before the crowds and traffic.

Once we got into the houses Ali, Autumn, and I made the grocery run. Wow that was a lot of food. It took me alone two carts to get all the groceries out to the car. Once we were done with all our errands it was time to enjoy the beach. It was beautiful! Now Carson on the other hand did not think much of the beach. As the vacation went on he learned to like it a little more. I think next year will be his year.

Day Two – Started off with Carson waking up early. He was so excited to see that we were sleeping in the same room as him. Thus started his morning wake-up ritual. Every morning we would hear him wrestling around in his pack and play. Then you would see one hand pop up and then the other. Then you see his big smiling face pop up next. Soon he would start bouncing till we got him out of bed. He kind of remined me of the gofer from "Caddy Shack" you know the way he just pops up. I have included a video clip for you to enjoy.

Our first full day at the beach was a nice breath of fresh air. The weather was perfect and we enjoyed getting caught up with our family. I really enjoyed watching everyone’s kids play on the beach. Our little man was not so into the beach thing. I think he may be more of a pool man. We will have to work on that a little before next year.

Carson's First 4th of July

Carson had a pretty good first 4th of July. We started off the day by going to the Coppell 4th of July parade. We joined a few of our playgroup families to watch it under a tree. Carson was a little cranky and wanting a nap but once it started he really enjoyed it. Jackson … Guess who was in the parade …I will give you a hint ….He is from the movie Cars. Look at the pictures and see if you can find him.

Of course on our way home from the parade Carson fell asleep. So we all took a nap and ate some lunch and then we were off to the pool. The club was having a party for the Fourth so it was pretty busy which Carson loves … lots of people and things to do.

After our long day we decided to take it easy for dinner so we made a run for Steak and Shake. Carson really enjoyed the Shake part. With his meal he got a small shake (his 4th of July treat) and drank almost all of it. He was very serious about drinking it too. Bath time … he really needed it with the sun block from the pool and his dinner and shake all over him.

After his bath we got a pleasant surprise … a rain shower in the sunshine … So Carson and I went outside to play in the rain. TOO FUN!

To end the night I was getting his clothes ready for vacation when I ran into his Halloween costume … So we put him in it. Funny thing is that he enjoyed it a lot more this time than he did when he was smaller.
